SUFC Under 14G/2

The U14G/2 team officially won Division 2 on 3rd July 2010 even though 3 games remained, at this point the girls had played 12 games scoring 70 goals & conceding 1 only.

Further the girls played Glenmore Park on 10/7/10 with only 7 players winning 1-0 at GP at that point GP were second in the division & had 14 players available. SUFC girls were aptly christened the “ Magnificent 7 ” the M7 consisted of Jemma Jones, (GK) Alice Boiden (RB) Kasey Krywinski (CB) Heidi Lynch (LB) Lilly Davies (RM) Georgia Voura (CM) & Isabella Wiggins (CF) & goal scorer.

The girls insisted on playing regardless of having 7 players and regardless of my advice, the managers and some parents, none of the girls entertained the idea of a forfeit they simply said and I quote” let's have some fun who cares if we lose”, they made a consultative decision amongst themselves and they took control and simply went for it, I congratulate them for a wonderful approach to the game, just goes to show we adults have much to learn from the youngsters and need to listen more and allow their opinions to be implemented.

Their overall achievement was sweeter as the girls had only 12 players in the squad and did not have a regular goalkeeper. The rest of the team that have made this a successful year is: Maddie Carter, Natalie Meehan Sophie Peterson, Sarah Smith Wade & Holly Wilson, unfortunately none were available to play at this time, but were greatly missed regardless of the result. At the time of drafting this report 14 games had been played, winning 14 loosing none, Drawing none, Goals for 80 and Goals against 1 Points scored 42 (maximum points) Well Done!
