On a day when some people would have been tempted grabbing the beach towel and head for the water, the U16/1 and AAL/1 strapped on their boots for an afternoon of football.

Representatives of the club met with BMCC at Summerhayes Park on Tuesday evening to assess the progress of the repairs to the light poles at Summerhayes Park, unfortunately the works are taking longer than expected and won’t be completed until the end of this week, this will means the fields will remain closed for training this week.

The Blue Mountains City Council are considering options regarding the removal of the effected light poles at Summerhayes Park to minimise any damage to the fields by heavy machinery. The council therefore have to take into consideration the integrity of the surface after the recent heavy rain late last week.

As per governing body regulations there is to be no consumption of alcohol at fields whilst Junior Games are being played or at football activities for junior teams, this includes training. Junior teams are any team including U18 and younger.

The Nepean Football Association has sent all clubs in the association an update regarding the competition for 2015, particularly in light of the matches which were washed out in recent weekends.

Vale: Matthew (Matt) Dyer a long standing young player at Springwood United FC tragically passed away in a fatal accident last Wednesday.
Matt has been a player at the club since 2001 starting out as a 4 year old in the U6 Devil’s until this season as a player in the Prems Squad for Season 2015.

Coaches & Managers - Working with Children Check

The Club will be requiring ALL coaches and managers (except those in O35s) to have a Working with Children Check. This means that the Club will be requiring a higher standard than that required by the Office of the Children’s Guardian. Even if the Children’s Guardians website says it is not necessary for you to have a Working with Children Check because you have a child in the team the Club still requires you to have one.

It is that time of year when nominations are called for positions on the Management Committee for the 2015 season. Some positions are for two year duration while others are for one year.
Boots For Kids in remote Indigenous communities

Have your kids outgrown their boots?
Do you have last year’s boots lying around the house?
Boots for kids is a campaign asking for donations of soccer/football boots, which will be distributed to remote indigenous communities. There will be bins at Coles supermarkets in NSW and Victoria where you can take the boots. They will be cleaned up and paired with socks before being sent out.
It would be great if as many of our members as possible could support this worthy cause.

Congratulations to our 18/2s who today won a 'must win' game to set up a final against Colo. This is effectively a 1v1 final as these teams finished equal first in the Premiership, just separated on 'goals for'. Should be a cracking game next Sunday.

The Nepean Football Association competition finished last weekend for teams involved in 8 team competitions. The 9 and 10 team competitions will finish in the next few weeks.
The 8 team competitions will commence playing in the semi-finals this weekend. Details of matches will be finalised by Wednesday. As soon as the club is notified, information will be forwarded to the respective team managers.

At last years AGM there was a motion approved for the club to recognise members with continuous 10, 15 or 20 year service for having played, coached, managed or been directly involved in Club Committees, or any combination of these roles for these periods of time. Those wanting to apply for long service recognition will need to make application to the Club Secretary prior to 15th September. Application form is attached here and is available under the Resources > Forms tab of this website.
Alcohol Consumption at Summerhayes

We've received a number of complaints about teams consuming alcohol near fields after games on Sunday's. The club understands Sunday football is a social occasion and does not want to minimise our members enjoyment so ask that all members be mindful of others and familiarise themselves with the Clubs policy on alcohol consumption at the park.

Tim Kelly appointed coach of Premier League.

The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Kelly as coach of the Premier League for season 2014. Tim has a lengthy playing history with the club, including many years playing State League in which he was the recipient of the Player's Player award and was inducted as a life member.

At a combined Football and Management Committee meeting on 30th October it was agreed the club would provide a SUFC Football Kit to all members who have lost their homes in the fires. This will include playing kit asn 2013 replacement trophies and photos.
SUFC Introduces Ladies Day

The club would like to introduce what will hopefully become an annual event in our club calendar - "Ladies Day". It is to recognise the valuable contribution our ladies make representing our club in senior women's football. It is also an opportunity to promote senior women's football and the vital role it has to play for the future of junior girl players.
$550 FINE FOR SMOKING AT A SPORTING EVENTS

Please be aware that NSW Health - Tobacco Compliance Officers will now be issuing fines to people found smoking at sporting events.
Smoking has been banned at sport venues in spectator areas since 7 January 2013 under the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000.
NDSFA have advised that they are being told Club members and spectators are still saying that they are not aware of the new regulation and have not been advised by their club - there is signage around Summerhayes Park.
Unfortunately this excuse will not prevent the individual from receiving a fine.
The fine for smoking at a sporting event is $550 to the individual smoker.
