Season 2018 has been a leaner season for how Springwood United FC as a club would usually perform in regards to premiership winning teams and runners up and finals day representation. However, that is not to say that we haven’t performed well as a club across all age groups and divisions. There were a few teams that narrowly missed out on being runners up and one team that missed 1st place by only 3 goals. Several teams that have had a tough time the past few seasons lifted their position on the ladder over past seasons, and although a few teams may not have finished higher on the competition ladder in comparison to past seasons, they still improved their performance and had less goals amassed against them and managed to score a few more goals than they had in the past few seasons.

The U12 Mixed Division 1 finished 2nd in their first season of competition football on the full sized pitch and are keen for Season 2019 to start so they can test their skills to a dominant Glenmore Park team that finished 1st.

The U14 Boys Division 1 finished equal 2nd on points missing out on taking 2nd place by a goal difference of 6 to Colo FC to finish 3rd on the ladder and are keen to bounce back next year aiming to finish 2 spots higher.

The U15 Boys Division 3 finished equal 1st on points narrowly missing out on taking 1st place by a goal difference of only 2 to Wollemi FC to finish in 2nd place as Runners Up. This is a remarkable bounce back to Season 2017 where a large percentage of these players were in an U14 team where results had to be put aside with a focus on 2018 ahead. Congratulations to the boys, coaching staff and parents for the resolve to return in 2018 after a tough 2017 Season.

The O35 Men Division 1 White finished their season undefeated, winning every game. In total they amassed 214 goals scored throughout the season. In the early season rounds they scored 130 goals in 7 games, and then when the O35 competition was redrawn they scored 84 goals for in 7 games, with only 10 goals against in 14 games. They also incurred 4 teams forfeiting against them, assumedly as strategic forfeits to protect their goal average against a dominant force that this team is, if not for those forfeits the goal count could have exceeded 250. Good luck to the lads as they head into the Football NSW Champion of Champions Tournament. Let’s hope they can go one better than Season 2017 as Runners Up across the State to winning this prestigious tournament in 2018.

The U17 Boys Division 1 finished 2nd after a change to the coaching staff of the past 6 years, this is a great effort to maintain a consistent performance from past seasons. Well done Michael and the boys.

The AA Men Division 11 finished equal 2nd on points, missing taking 2nd place by a goal difference of 5 to Wollemi FC to finish 3rd on the ladder, well done to these lads who have been sticking it out together for many seasons with mixed results.

The AA Women Division 3 finished equal 2nd narrowly missing taking 2nd place by a goal difference of 3 to Glenmore Park FC to finish 3rd on the ladder, doing so with the bare 11 players for much of the season, playing many games with less than 11 players on the field. Well done ladies for sticking it out and fighting on every week.

Our U11 age group excelled this season and will be an age group to watch in the years ahead as they depart from their experiences in Small Sided Football and take the step up onto the full sized pitch in 2019 playing competition football.

Small Sided Football ages from U5 to U11 consist of 49% of the clubs player base and are the engine room of our future as a club. Once again these age groups had a great season where some fantastic football was played, with weekly demonstrations of sportsmanship, skill and team work. The final round for the U5-U7 age groups saw many players, Coaches, Managers and parents as well as our resident Minion committee member dressing up as their favourite super hero for the annual Super Heroes Round where all the focus is on celebrating the fun and enjoyable season that was had.

Thank You to the many people who volunteer their time on Canteen and BBQ Duty, your contributions make a difference and assist the club to earn additional revenue to contribute funds towards equipment and improvements around the grounds.

Finally, Thank You to all of the Clubs Coaches, Managers and Age Coordinators for your time, efforts and commitment to make the players seasons an enjoyable one.

Hoping to see many of you at the Finals to support our teams, if not then we will see you at Presentation, Seniors on Saturday 27th October and Juniors on Sunday 28th October.
